Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 18th goal of the season as LA Galaxy beat the Seattle Sounders 3-0 on Sunday.
The Galaxy ended an eight-game winless stretch, earning their first victory since July and Dominic Kinnear's first as interim coach.
Ibrahimovic opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a penalty, his 501st career goal and 15th in his last 15 games.
Ola Kamara, who drew the foul leading to the penalty, made it 2-0 in the 40th minute with an easy tap-in at the far post.
Emmanuel Boateng then capped off the win in 52nd minute.
The Vancouver Whitecaps' play-offs hopes were dented as they lost 2-1 at home to FC Dallas.
Dallas defender Matt Hedges hit the winner in the 87th minute to seal the Whitecaps' fate.
