As the 2022 summer transfer window closes, we round up the done deals, and all the players linked with moves in and out of Manchester City.

Haaland delivering on fearsome reputation

Manchester City's hopes of celebrating a fifth Premier League title in six years are gathering pace given their electric start to the season, spearheaded by stellar summer signing Erling Haaland.

Five games into the Premier League season and the Norwegian has already added a different dimension to Pep Guardiola's side.

Haaland has hit the ground running at Manchester City, becoming the first player in the Premier League era to score nine times in his first five matches, with back-to-back hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest raising the prospect of an ominous end-of-season goals tally.

The Norwegian arrived in England with a reputation as one of the hottest properties around and he has lived up to the label, with Manchester City already reaping the benefits and staking perhaps the strongest claim to signing of the summer.

Man City sign Dortmund's Akanji

Manchester City have signed Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund in a £15m deal.

Swiss international Akanji had entered the final year of his contract and was yet to make an appearance for Dortmund this season. In total, he has played 158 times for the Bundesliga club since joining from Basel in 2018. The Premier League title holders have struggled with defensive injuries this season, with Aymeric Laporte absent until September as he recovers from knee surgery, while Nathan Ake was taken off during their 3-3 draw at Newcastle on August 21.

Saints seals loan for City youngsters

Southampton completed the double signings of youngsters Sam Edozie and Juan Larios from Manchester City on Deadline Day.

Edozie is a 19-year-old winger and Larios is a Spain U19 left-back both playing in City's academy.

The main pillar of Saints' transfer policy is to sign the best Premier League academy talent and develop them into first-team players.

The man behind that effort is Joe Shields - appointed head of recruitment earlier this year - who was previously City's head of academy recruitment and worked there for nine years.

Man City complete £11m Gomez deal

Manchester City have completed the £11m signing of left-back Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht.

City agreed a deal with Anderlecht to sign Gomez last week, and the 21-year-old has now completed a medical and signed a four-year deal with the Premier League champions.

It was initially thought Gomez would have been loaned out once the transfer was completed, but City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed he will stay in Manchester this season and compete for the left-back position in the first team.

Man City considered Guerreiro

Manchester City were also keen on Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro.

The 28-year-old Portugal international was one of several potential first-team options the club were looking into.

Guerreiro has made 189 appearances for Dortmund, scored 34 goals and setup 37, since joining in 2016.

One source has told Sky Sports News Stuttgart's Borna Sosa was also on City's list, while another source has indicated he was not under consideration.
