Laura Woods talks to Marco Silva after Everton beat Manchester 4-0 at Goodison Park, which the Toffees boss says was fully deserved

Marco Silva says Everton were the better team "from the first minute until the last" as they thrashed Manchester United 4-0, but insists they must continue to prove themselves.

Goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne, and Theo Walcott completed the rout at Goodison Park as Everton moved up to seventh and boosted their chances of securing a place in the Europa League.

The defeat is United's sixth in their last eight games, and Silva believes his side outplayed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side throughout.

Everton 4-0 Man Utd

"I'm delighted with the way we played this afternoon, again at home," he told Sky Sports. "It is important to remind you what we did in the last four home games. We are on a fantastic run.

"Of course, our last performance away from home (a 2-0 defeat at Fulham) was not good enough for us. We knew we must show something different this afternoon and we did that. Well played, really well-deserved three points.

"I think we were the best team on the pitch from the first minute until the last, we created chances, scored four good goals, and a clean sheet again is really important for us. We keep fighting for what we want."

Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness react to Manchester United's 4-0 defeat at Everton.

Everton have now beaten three top six sides in their last three home games, without conceding a goal, and Silva is delighted with the turnaround after the Blues previously went 26 games without a win against a top-six side.

"We always work in the same way, it was tough before the games against Liverpool and Chelsea to listen to how many games we were without a win against this type of teams," he added.

"Before Chelsea, we were 26 games without a win against the top six. I've said to the players since the first day that we will change that, and we changed it. Now we are playing with high quality at home, enjoying it, and it is important also to see our fans enjoying it.

"But we have to keep going, and next week I want our team proving our quality again. It's a different game, away, and we have to prove [ourselves]."
