Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is prepared to axe several of the club's under-performing players. Real romped to a comprehensive 6-0 win over APOEL Nicosia on Tuesday night but Perez remains unhappy with the performance levels of some of the first team. While his patience is wearing wafer thin with Gareth Bale's persistent injuries, long-time Arsenal transfer target Karim Benzema, Lucas Vasquez and Marcos Llorente are also facing the chop at the Bernabeu. Juventus failed in an audacious bid to swoop for Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta in the summer. The Bianconeri tried to find an agreement with the Spain World Cup winner before he put pen to paper on a new deal at the Camp Nou. Although Juve director Giuseppe Marotta held talks with the midfielder, Iniesta always made clear that his intention - and priority - was to sign a new contract with Barca. (Calciomercato)

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira will not be leaving the club in January. Although the Bianconeri remain favourites to sign Liverpool's Emre Can, they want to keep the Germany international. Khedira turns 31 next season but Juve are considering offering him an extension to his contract which is set to run out in 2019. Khedira now has a decision to make as a number of clubs are said to be interested in his services, with offers from Premier League sides and MLS outfits. (Calciomercato)

Inter Milan are ready to offer Real Madrid target Mauro Icardi a bumper new contract to ward off interested parties. The Nerazzurri captain has scored 13 goals already this season and has reportedly attracted attention from Madrid, who are shopping for a replacement for Benzema. However, there is no suggestion that Icardi wants to leave the San Siro and the club will look to tie him down to a new deal in order to quash recent speculation. (Calciomercato)
