Juan Mata is looking to rid the "bad taste" of October's Premier League defeat by Chelsea when Manchester United visit Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup.

Jose Mourinho had a return to forget when United lost 4-0 at his former club Chelsea last year, but will have the chance for revenge after the sides were drawn against each other in cup competition following victories in the fifth round.

United came from behind to win 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on Sunday, and Mata admits it was not long before the players' attention turned to a meeting with their "rivals".

"We were just leaving Ewood Park when we knew through the social networks our rival in the last eight: Chelsea at Stamford Bridge," Mata said on his official website, after discovering their quarter-final opponents would be his old club.

"Needless to say, it's going to be another special game for me…This is without a doubt one of the most complicated ties we could have, but we will go there with the big motivation of earning a ticket to Wembley and forget the bad taste of our last visit to Stamford Bridge."

United's progress in three cup competitions means they continue a congested run of fixtures with the second leg of their last-32 Europa League tie against St Etienne on Wednesday, before taking on Southampton in the EFL Cup final on Sunday at Wembley.

Despite the advantage of a 3-0 first-leg victory over St Etienne, Mata insists he is not letting focus drift towards Wembley and an approaching Chelsea return.

"It would be a big mistake for us to take things for granted," Mata added. "When you take things seriously and fight in all competitions you need to multiply your efforts, be smart and avoid getting distracted.

"The team is showing that and we want to keep the same way. We are entering the decisive part of the season and we are still fighting to win some of the trophies."
