Ronald Koeman was heavily critical of referee Jon Moss' performance after Everton's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Friday Night Football.
The Toffees, having taken the lead through Romelu Lukaku's first-half free-kick, were clawed back by Christian Benteke as it finished honours even at Goodison Park.
On the whole, Koeman was pleased with his side's improved display from Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth, but took offence with Moss' over-eagerness with his whistle and with his cards.
Asked whether Everton had improved, Koeman told Sky Sports: "Yes, the performance was outstanding.
"You would maybe like to have created more opportunities - we missed one from Idrissa Gueye in the second half.
"Palace could have made it 2-1, I don't know if it was offside but it was difficult to understand all of the decisions of the referee today, even with that one he could have made a fault.
"I spoke to Alan Pardew and we were really upset as there were a lot of decisions both ways and yellow cards.
"Come on, it's Premier League football, the referee needs to understand that."
The stalemate ensured Everton missed the chance to move up to second in the Premier League, a result which could see them drop as low as sixth on the completion of the latest round of fixtures.
However, things could have been worse for the Merseysiders had Damien Delaney's second-half goal not been ruled out for offside.
With that in mind, Koeman was keen to draw the positives from an evenly-fought contest that maintained his impressive start to life at Everton, adding: "It's a good point.
"Of course you would like to win at home, even more so when you're 1-0 up, but it's very tough.
"A big compliment to the team was how we defended the second balls and set plays against a difficult team.
"But one time they took the chance and earned a draw. Finally, we got one point and it's not a bad point.
"We have had a really good start to the season. The position in the table is not everything to look on but we can improve, we need to improve.
"We're doing a good job so far and we would like to continue."
