WATCH: Highlights of Leeds' penalty shootout victory over Norwich in the EFL Cup

Leeds are into the EFL Cup quarter-finals after beating Norwich 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra-time at Elland Road.

The hosts twice came from behind, once in normal time and then again in the 109th minute after spending the added 30 minutes with 10 men.

Alex Pritchard fired the Canaries ahead with his first goal for the club before Marcus Antonsson levelled from close-range before half-time, but Lewie Coyle was forced off with injury at the final whistle with Leeds having used all their substitutes.

One of those was top-scorer Chris Wood and he cancelled out Nelson Oliveira's extra-time header to force a shootout that was won by Ronaldo Vieira's strike in sudden death.

Leeds made eight changes from the weekend while Norwich made seven, with Steven Naismith returning, Pritchard making only his second start since joining from Spurs, and 18-year-old Ben Godfrey earning his Canaries debut, and the visitors bossed the opening period before scoring through Pritchard on 13 minutes.

Robbie Brady had space and time on the left-hand side to whip a delicious cross into the six-yard box that Pritchard watched all the way onto his head via a bounce and then steered into the bottom corner.

Norwich should have been 2-0 up after half-an-hour but Leeds 'keeper Marco Silvestri acrobatically saved Brady's curler from distance and then Alex Mowatt cleared a close-range volley from Oliveira off the line.

Leeds had been trying to get themselves back in the game through brute force but Kyle Bartley's decision to punch the ball in the net was deemed a step too far and saw him booked for deliberate handball.

But a neat Leeds move shortly followed and Kemar Roofe crossed for Souleymane Doukara to knock the ball back to Antonsson, who finished simply for the equaliser on 41 minutes.

Three changes for both sides in the second half could not yield a winner despite Sergi Canos and Wood both threatening at either end, but the away side capitalised on the extra man in extra time and Pritchard picked out Oliveira beautifully to head Norwich back into the lead.

But in their hunt for a third, Norwich were caught on the break and substitute Hadi Sakho's fierce shot from the right was parried by John Ruddy straight to the lurking Wood to tap home for 2-2.

Leeds midfielder Alex Mowatt somehow contrived to miss this chance in front of goal although it didn't prove costly as Leeds overcame Norwich on penalties

Pritchard and Naismith missed their penalties as Leeds took a 2-1 lead but Matt Grimes and Kalvin Phillips botched their own, while Oliveira scored, to put the shootout 2-2 after five kicks each. Silvestri pulled-off a blinding save to deny Brady and Vieira sent the keeper the wrong way to fire Leeds into the last-eight.
